Doja

It’s nothing like a fresh start to the week with a few new choices for new music to add to your daily rotation. Doja Cat released her heavily anticipated hip hop album Scarlet to actress Keke Palmer releasing a new single. While not as packed as previous weeks it was still a good week overall to check out some new tunes. Below are some of our picks for New Music Mondays.

Doja Cat – Scarlet (LP)

Doja Cat’s Scarlet, her fourth studio album, marks her highly anticipated return following 2021’s Planet Her, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and delivered plenty of Hot 100 hits. She’ll be heading out on a 24-date tour in support of the album with The Scarlet Tour, which kicks off on Halloween in San Francisco and wraps Dec. 13 in Chicago. Ice Spice and Doechii have been announced as opening acts for the stops.

Brent Faiyaz – WY@ (Single)

His latest single, “WY@,” produced by Dpat, Otxhello, Berg, Anthoine Walters, and Jonathan “Freeze” Wells, is all about the false comfort found in casual hookups. “WY@” showcases his evolution yet again. A funky bassline undercuts the track’s laidback bounce. Flashes of falsetto line his verses as he leans into the pocket. The hook instantly captivates as he promises, “This time I’ll be through for real. It’s got soul, spirit, and style—just like everything he does. It also pops off as an irrefutable and inimitable banger.

Currently, he has wrapped up the North American leg of his 2023 worldwide headline tour, F*ck The World, It’s a Wasteland.  Next up, he touches down in Europe, stopping in London, Milan, and Berlin before coming to an end on November 20 in London, UK. In addition, the December 5 and 6 shows have been added as a reschedule to the Los Angeles tour dates

Keke Palmer – Assets (Single)

“Assets,” produced by Kenneth “KP” Paige and co-written by Keke, Felisha King Harvey, Kenneth Dickerson Taylor Jr., and Simon David Plummer, is a triple entendre on Keke’s current life. Firstly, what she has been able to acquire in her career, what she brings to romantic relationships, and her curvy body since the birth of her son Leo.

K. Michelle – I’m The Problem (LP)

I’m The Problem is not just for K’s die-hard Rebel fans. The 19-track project is for anyone who has ever claimed to know her. K. Michelle, Kimberly Pate, and Puddin all make an appearance, making the body of work the ultimate sign-off before she goes to frolic in the greener pastures that is country music.  As her final album under the stage name K. Michelle, she goes out on a high note.

Lil Tecca – TEC (Album)

Queens rapper Lil Tecca has delivered his third studio album in full. With just two artists featured, Kodak Black and Ken Carson, the 21-year-old rapper does a majority of the rapping on the 16-track project. While Tecca has already delivered music videos for TEC‘s “500 lbs” and “Dead Or Alive”, the rapper has also dropped off each track’s official lyric video on his YouTube channel as well.

Earthgang – ‘RIP Human Art’ (EP)

EarthGang has returned with a new EP entitled EarthGang vs the Algorithm: RIP Human Art. The release marks their first installment in what will be a three-part series. The five-track tape, which dropped on Friday, marks the Atlanta duo’s first project since they let loose the deluxe edition of Ghetto Gods, their second studio album that arrived back in February 2020.

LOE Adde’ – Still Mapping (EP)

LOE Addé releases a 2-song single pack entitled, Still Mapping. With the two songs, LOE demonstrates his roles as both an transparent and talented artist. The EP previews a more extensive body of work set to release later this year. LOE (Lyrically Over Expectations) has recently been on a notable run recenlty with co-signs from Foggieraw, Femdot, On The Radar, Ashoka, High Snobiety, Fashion Bomb Daily, One37PM, Global Grind, and Sprayground.
