On September 22, Summer Walker, the celebrated R&B artist hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, was granted a remarkable hometown accolade: her very own day. The singer marked the occasion by taking to Instagram and sharing a collection of photos in which she was elegantly dressed and proudly displayed the official proclamation paperwork.

“Welp I officially have my own day from the city of Atlanta on the sept 22nd,” Summer Walker said. “Last day of summer [grey heart emoji, angel face emoji] thank you.”

In the final slide of the post, Summer Walker can be seen surrounded by her closest family and friends, all coming together to celebrate this prestigious achievement.

Interestingly, Summer Walker isn’t the sole Atlanta native to be honored in such a manner this year. Back in March, the accomplished producer Mike WiLL Made-It received his own day in Atlanta, an event that took place during his 34th birthday festivities.

According to TMZ, Mike WiLL Made-It was bestowed with the Outstanding Citizen Award on March 23 during his birthday celebration. The honor was presented to him by none other than T.I. and Philiana Williams, the director of film and entertainment in the Mayor’s office of the City of Atlanta.

A video shared by the outlet captured the moment when T.I. read the award documents in front of a delighted crowd that included notables like Rae Sremmurd, DJ Greg Street, OutKast’s Big Boi, and Xscape’s Tiny, among others.

In response, Mike WiLL Made-It addressed the crowd with gratitude and humility. “Man, yo, I’ma look into this, ’cause I don’t really know all the way what this means, but I appreciate them having my favorite rapper, that I grew up bumping, read this and give it to me, man,” he expressed. “And to have T.I. at my muthaf*in’ birthday, man, my brothers in here, they know what this st means.”

He continued, acknowledging his fellow artists, “We grew up bumping the king right here, man, the king of the muthafin’ south, you know what I’m saying? And we got our brothers right here, man, Rae Sremmurd, who put Ear Drummer Records on their muthafin’ back and made this s**t real, man. Shoutout to Swae Lee, shoutout to Slim Jxmmi.”

Meanwhile, in recent times, Summer Walker had to address dating rumors involving herself and Jeremih. These speculations arose after an eagle-eyed fan captured a video of the two singers together at a roller skating rink, which was later shared on The Neighborhood Talk’s Instagram.

However, Summer Walker swiftly clarified the situation on the outlet’s IG page, stating:

“That man has never touched me and never will,” she wrote. “No disrespect. He happened to be there while I was there. Celebs go skating too. T.I., Tiny, Usher and many more be at Cascade. Damn y’all make my ass itch. I can’t do nothing without y’all being in my business.”
