Earlier this month, Megan Thee Stallion surprised her fans when she unexpectedly withdrew from the 2023 Global Citizen Festival lineup. Initially, it was attributed to a “scheduling conflict,” but Page Six reported that a last-minute opportunity to perform alongside Beyoncé in their hometown of Houston might have been the actual reason. However, as of September 21st, a source close to the situation clarified that the unexpected change was the result of an inadvertent scheduling conflict created by Megan’s team.

As a consequence of Megan’s departure, the Global Citizen Festival had to swiftly adjust its lineup. The event will now be headlined by Jung Kook, Lauryn Hill, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. The festival will also be available for streaming on platforms such as Amazon, Apple, and YouTube. While the festival has featured big names like Beyoncé and JAY-Z in previous years, Megan had never performed there before.

Fans had been buzzing with anticipation over the possibility of Megan Thee Stallion sharing the stage with Beyoncé, especially given their previous collaboration on the chart-topping “Savage (Remix),” which was RIAA-certified quadruple platinum in 2021.

Megan recently made a return to the public eye with her new track titled “Bongos,” a collaboration with Cardi B. The duo delivered a captivating live performance of the song at the 2023 MTV VMAs just last week.

Speaking about her relationship with Cardi B, Megan described it in glowing terms during an interview with “Entertainment Tonight.” She said, “I feel like we hype each other up so well. Anytime she might be feeling a certain way, I’m definitely her ray of sunshine. She’s incredibly sweet and kind, and that’s why I really appreciate her—because she’s genuine.”

Beyond her music career, Megan Thee Stallion is branching out into other areas. She has secured a role in the upcoming A24 film titled “D**ks: The Musical” and will also make an appearance in the seventh season of Netflix’s animated series “Big Mouth.”
