Teyana Taylor took to Instagram on Sunday to make a significant announcement regarding her relationship with former NBA star Iman Shumpert. The couple, who have been married for seven years, revealed that they have been separated for some time and are now heading for divorce.

In an Instagram post featuring a photo of the two dressed as Wayne and Garth from Wayne’s World, Taylor made it clear that infidelity was not the cause of their separation. She captioned the photo:

“AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie!” she captioned the photo. “In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, ‘infidelity’ ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT.”

Taylor emphasized that their ability to maintain a successful and peaceful separation was due to keeping the outside noise out of their relationship. She revealed that they’ve managed to shield their personal matters from public scrutiny by keeping them private within their group chat.

The singer and actor, Taylor, who gained fame at a young age and starred in the 2023 Sundance Film Festival breakout film “A Thousand and One,” has been in the public eye since her teenage years. Her journey to stardom includes being the focus of an episode of “My Super Sweet 16” and choreographing Beyonce’s “Ring the Alarm” music video when she was just 15 years old.

On the other hand, Iman Shumpert, known for his NBA championship win with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 and his victory on “Dancing with the Stars” alongside Daniella Karagach in 2021, has had a successful career in sports and entertainment.

The former couple, who welcomed their first child in 2015, tied the knot in 2016, co-starred in a Kanye West music video that same year, and expanded their family with a second child in 2020.
