Diddy has responded in a comical manner to his former bodyguard’s claim that he almost fought Will Smith over Jennifer Lopez, though he didn’t confirm or deny the story’s authenticity.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on October 30, Diddy discussed his latest album, The Love Album. The host, Jimmy Kimmel, brought up a recent claim by Diddy’s former bodyguard, Gene Deal, suggesting that Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith had hoped to involve Jennifer Lopez in a threesome, leading to a confrontation between Diddy and Will Smith.

In response to Kimmel’s audacious question, Diddy initially maintained a stern expression but then broke character and humorously exclaimed:

“Yo, this show has gotten crazier since the last time I was here … you really heard that? I don’t know what you’re talkin’ about. Jimmy, I thought we was friends.”

The incident in question was brought up by Gene Deal during an interview with The Art of Dialogue, where he recalled an alleged heated reaction from Diddy after suspecting that Will Smith and his wife were making advances towards Jennifer Lopez. The incident reportedly occurred at a birthday party hosted by Matt Damon for Ben Affleck at the Four Seasons.

Deal recounted Diddy’s reaction, stating, “[Puff] stood up. And when he stood up, he walked and did his arms a certain kind of way like [crossing them]. I go over towards him and he said to me, ‘Yo, I think Will and Jada are trying to scoop up Jennifer. I want you to stay close ’cause I’ma snuff him.’

Although Deal humorously considered that Will Smith might “beat the s***” out of Diddy, he acknowledged that his former employer could “scrap.” He also mentioned strategically positioning himself in case Diddy confronted Will Smith, allowing the actor to land a few punches in retaliation.

The exact timing of the alleged confrontation remains unclear, but Diddy and Jennifer Lopez dated between late 1999 and early 2001 after meeting on a music video set, suggesting that the incident likely occurred during that period. Diddy’s lighthearted response to the story on Jimmy Kimmel Live! adds a humorous twist to the tale.
