Diddy Accuses Federal Government of Misconduct in Sex Trafficking Case; Trial Date Set!
Sean “Diddy” Combs has accused the federal government of misconduct in his sex trafficking and racketeering case, alleging unlawful media leaks that harm his defense.
Sean “Diddy” Combs and his legal team have raised serious allegations against the federal government, claiming misconduct in the handling of his ongoing sex trafficking and racketeering case. On Wednesday (October 9), Diddy’s attorneys filed a motion requesting an evidentiary hearing to investigate what they describe as “strategic” and “unlawful” leaks of evidence to the media, along with “false and prejudicial statements” allegedly made by federal agents.
In the motion, Diddy’s lawyers assert that the leaks were not random but rather “planned and executed” by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which conducted raids on his properties earlier this year. The motion highlights the infamous leaked video of Diddy allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, in a hotel corridor in 2016, calling it the most “egregious” example of these leaks.
According to Diddy’s attorneys, the release of this footage to CNN was intended to damage his reputation and hinder his ability to defend himself against the allegations. “The videotape was leaked to CNN for one reason alone: to mortally wound the reputation and the prospect of Sean Combs successfully defending himself against these allegations,” the motion states.
Diddy’s legal team is demanding a hearing to determine whether Homeland Security and the U.S. Attorney’s Office were involved in these leaks. They argue that if it is proven that a government official was the source of the leak, materials like the Cassie assault video could potentially be deemed inadmissible as evidence in the trial.
In addition, the motion calls for the court to prohibit government attorneys and agents involved in the case from leaking any further information to the media. If the alleged misconduct is validated, Diddy’s lawyers are requesting that all charges against him be dropped.
While a specific trial date has yet to be set, Diddy’s legal team indicated their intention to request a trial date in April or May 2025. Currently, the 54-year-old music mogul remains incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being denied bail twice. He has recently submitted another request for release, challenging the judge’s concerns regarding potential witness tampering and obstruction of justice.
As Diddy navigates these serious allegations, the outcome of this case could significantly impact his career and public image. The legal proceedings will be closely watched as they unfold, particularly in light of the controversial accusations made against the federal government.
Update: Diddy’s sex trafficking trial will begin on May 5, 2025.
