Mary J. Blige Embraces New Romance and Announces Upcoming Tour on ‘Sherri’
Mary J. Blige is stepping into a new chapter of her life. During her appearance on the Monday, Sept. 23 episode of Sherri, the R&B legend discussed moving past her divorce and finding love again while promoting the fourth and final season of Power Book II: Ghosts.
Reflecting on her 2018 divorce from ex Kendu Isaacs, the 53-year-old shared how she’s learned the importance of forgiveness. “What I’ve learned is that forgiveness was for me,” Blige told host Sherri Shepherd. “So, excuse me when I say this, ‘The hell with them.’”
Blige elaborated, saying she refuses to hold onto negativity.
“I don’t like that ugly, bitter feeling ’cause that’s not mine. That belongs to you. You did what you did. But I have to move on and in order for me to feel good and to manifest all the good things in my life, I have to let go for me.”
As Shepherd inquired about Blige’s love life, the “Family Affair” singer confirmed she’s dating someone new. “You know already Sherri, everybody knows,” she admitted with a smile. “Yes.” She added that the relationship is going well, emphasizing her self-love journey:
“I feel good about me. I look good TO ME. I feel good to ME. And so, I’m embracing me.”
In addition to sharing her personal growth, Blige announced her upcoming For My Fans tour, kicking off in January 2025, and revealed that her new album Gratitude will drop on Nov. 15. Speaking about the album title, she explained, “Because that’s where I am.”
Last month, Blige told PEOPLE that her new album will continue to reflect her unique take on R&B, stating, “I do what Mary J. Blige does, and that’s it.”
