On Sunday, June 2, Megan Thee Stallion revealed that her third studio album, MEGAN, will be available on streaming platforms starting June 28 through Hot Girl Productions. This announcement came during a rescheduled concert in Atlanta at the State Farm Arena, where she also shared the album artwork and a pre-save link with her fans.

Originally, the Atlanta show was set for May 31 but had to be postponed due to a citywide water main break. “I’m extremely disappointed because I had a huge surprise for the Hotties tonight, but we will follow the Mayor’s protocol,” Megan wrote on Twitter.

The delay turned out to be worthwhile. The album cover features a semi-transparent “M” and a large cocoon with Megan emerging from it upside down. While some fans found the creative direction puzzling, with one even commenting, “How [did] you go from a snake to a butterfly?” others found it fitting considering the album’s theme of “renewal.”

In an interview with L’Officiel, Megan explained the concept further:

“We started with the snake because I feel like snakes are so misunderstood, especially in Western culture. They represent rebirth [and] spirituality. I like darker things [and] things that are a little scary. I picked the snake because it’s kind of like an antihero.”

Megan also shared that she’s experimenting with different musical styles on this album. “This is music I would like if I wasn’t Megan Thee Stallion,” she told the magazine. “I’m just tapping into other sounds, but it’s still very much Megan Thee Stallion. It won’t feel like I went so left. It’ll feel true to me.”

The Grammy-winning artist previously released “Cobra” in November 2023, followed by the hit “HISS” in January 2024. She continued the momentum with May’s “BOA,” which was accompanied by a video game-inspired visual.
