LL Cool J, Pop Smoke, Cam’ron, and Rakim are set to be featured on special edition metro cards this month in New York City, in honor of the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop.
The MTA revealed the news this past Friday (August 4th), releasing the LL Cool J and [late] Pop Smoke versions. LL’s cards will be exclusive to the Forest Hills-71 Av station in Queens, his place of origin, whereas Pop Smoke’s cards will be obtainable at the Canarsie-Rockaway Pkwy (L) and New Lots Av (3) stations in Brooklyn, his birthplace.
The MTA has yet to provide specifics about the release date and location for the Cam’ron and Rakim cards, but they confirmed that these will be available sometime later this month.
If you ask me, this is the best thing the MTA has done in the past 20 years.
