Irvington, Alabama’s very own Alexia Jayy has been making quite the name for herself these past two years after emerging onto the scene with her breakout buzz-worthy anthem, “Who Raised You” in 2021. With co-signs already by heavyweights and superstars like Muni Long, Chris Brown, and Jazmine Sullivan, this talented songstress is well on her way to success.

Known for donning her signature beautiful and black Afro hairstyle, with a sultry sound to match, there’s no doubt that Alexia is what R&B music has been missing this past decade. Soulful in very sense of the word, Jayy possess true southern roots and you can hear it in each record. At just 9 years old, she joined a group and even performed at the world-famous Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater.

After previous releases such as “I Need a Man” and “It Ain’t Easy,” Alexia is back with another record guaranteed to be put on repeat. “Over and Done” describing a failed relationship she tried to save. The lyrics read:

Sabrina tried to tell me you weren’t for me from the jump /
said that it was toxic you’re not really what I want /
I’m putting you on notice /
I’m tired /

Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry /
Sometimes we sit here wondering why
where do we go? /
Why all the lies?
I gave it my all, you can’t say I didn’t try

“Over and Done” reminds us of true R&B, reminiscent of the 90’s to early 2000s and has that Teddy Riley/New Jack Swing inspired touch to it, with that vocoder sample throughout the record. Listen below.
