The case has played out over social media over the last two years but has finally reached its day in court.

Megan Thee Stallion took the stand today in Los Angeles as the prosecutor’s first witness. The Houston rapper detailed the events that took place the night Tory Lanez allegedly shot her.  Prosecutors say that in July 2020, in the early morning hours after a party in Los Angeles, Lanez grew upset at Megan Thee Stallion after she had criticized his rap abilities, firing toward her feet as she walked away from the vehicle they had both been riding in. Tory’s defense has disputed that he fired the shots, suggesting it could have been Megan’s former best friend and manager, Kelsey Nicole, who was upset that the two rappers had been intimate.

Because I knew Kelsey had a crush on Tory, I didn’t want to hurt her feelings,” Megan testified. “I didn’t want her to know that I had dealt with him in any kind of way. So he knew I didn’t want her to know that. I didn’t want anybody to know… Now Kelsey got an attitude because he was implying we were hiding something from her.

Megan’s testimony also included why she recanted her story initially to the police and what life has been like since the event occurred.

“I didn’t want to talk to the officers because I didn’t want to be a snitch,”

Megan added how the fallout from the encounter has made her depressed and hindered her career. She said that she was a private person who spoke out to defend her name and that she had been the target of abusive comments on social media.

Because Tory has come out and told so many lies about me and made this all a sex scandal, people don’t want to touch me, It feels like I’m a sick bird.

Tory has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault with a firearm, illegally possessing a firearm and negligent discharge of a gun. The case is just gearing up with a lineup of possible witnesses, including Kylie Jenner, Corey Gamble, and former assistant Kelsey Nicole.
