International sensation and Ghanaian rap star Sakordie is gearing up for the official release of his eight studio, Jamz (due November 11), but yesterday he dropped the project’s new single, “Labadi” featuring frequent collaborator, King Promise. The record is a feel good vibe song with a sunny touch. It’s definitely a summer anthem.

The visual for “Labadi,” despite its title was shot in the idyllic shores of Mykonos, Greece and was directed by Capone and Babs Direction, which captures shots of Sarkodie in Versace (shirt and sunglasses) while rapping to a beautiful lady poolside. King Promise sings his smooth melodies on a hotel balcony while a gorgeous woman accompanies him. We get a look at the breath-taking scenery while sun sets and a boat is featured running across the ocean.

Sarkodie recently described the inspiration behind the single, which is his first release this year:

“‘Labadi’ is a gateway song. It’s about fun times with loved ones,” Sarkodie mentions. “I was inspired by the idea of a boat party with some good people, just taking time off to enjoy life on the ocean. The melodies in the song are intended to bring out the positive vibrations in us. You just have to put all your worries away for a second and enjoy ‘Labadi’.”

The Hip-Hop artist has contributed so much to the Ghanaian music scene and to date is the first musician to win BET’s Best International Flow artist at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Sarkodie is also expected to perform at the Global Citizen Festival in Accra on September 24 along other global powerhouse artists like Usher, SZA, Tems and Stormzy.
