Meek Mill Exits Roc Nation Management After 10 Years

The Philadelphia rap veteran has been with the management company since 2012.

According to recent reports, Meek Mill has officially parted ways with Roc Nation Management as the artist is no longer featured on their website or social media accounts. This may come as a surprise as Mill – born Robert Williams – has attained multiple joint ventures with the company as well as its founder, Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter. One of which is Reform Alliance, a non-profit organization that’s inception followed his 2018 incarceration and has focused on unjust sentencing laws in the United States. The other deal was a joint venture in 2019 for his Dreamchasers imprint, of which he became president.

Williams has expressed his displeasure with his label, Atlantic Records, after he scored a Top 5 debut on the Billboard 200 when his latest project, ‘Expensive Pain’. The album debuted at No. 3 and the “Dreams & Nightmares” rapper criticized the record label for not backing the project.

“They didn’t put nothing into expensive pain and then said I can’t drop another project for 9 months at the end of my contract after I made them 100’s of millions ….. how would can anybody survive that … most rappers can’t speak because they depend on these companies “I don’t,” tweeted Williams.

He also claimed that the label tried to sour his relationship with, at the time rising star, Roddy Ricch. Meek stated that Atlantic separated them instantly “when the millions came in ” for Ricch – he went on to clarify that the two artists remain close.

With the frustration of how labels have handled his career as of late, there is some understanding as to why Williams may want to reconstruct his team. As of now, there have been no comments made on either side since Meek’s departure.
