When I say Kendrick Lamar Duckworth is a genius, this man is a genius. His latest efforts in a surprise Sunday evening release “The Heart Part 5” samples Marvin Gaye’s classic single “I Want You” and morphs the lyrics in a mosh of clever bars that entails multiple landmark events in black culture recently. The main subjects were OJ Simpson, Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant, and Nipsey Hussle. Being a follow up to 2017’s “The Heart Part 4,” Kendrick did not only live up to expectations but surpassed it.

The visual produced and directed by Dave Free and Kendrick Lamar features buzzing Deep Fake face swap technology which had Kendrick face switching with each before mentioned celebrity dancing in a red room reciting lyrics that corresponded to their relevance to black culture. While the whole visual was amazing, the end caught the eyes of the world and had rave reviews from all over the world.

He rapped from the perspective of Nipsey Hussle’s spirt who speaking about forgiving his murderer and talking to his brother Blacc Sam about continuing The Marathon empire that has been built by the family over the past decade. According the Lauren London via her IG story, “this is a work of art.” I don’t have much else to say but to watch the video and look out for his upcoming album Friday.
