Pharrell Pulls ‘Something In The Water’ From Virginia Beach
Super producer and current organizer for the ‘Something in the Water Festival’ Pharrell Williams, has announced via an open letter to the city manager of Virginia Beach that he will be moving the festival from the city. This announcement comes on the heels of another officer involved shooting in which Pharrell’s cousin was a victim.
Pharrell goes on to state that the purpose for the festival was to “ease the racial tension” within the city and “unify the region”. However, following the fatal police shooting of his cousin, Donovon Lynch, things haven’t been the same.
Donovan was said to have been brandishing a weapon at the time of his death, and of course there isn’t any body cam footage available from the officer to corroborate this claim.
Pharrell’s statement comes as a response to the city manager of Virginia Beach’s “immense disappointment” after hearing that the festival wouldn’t be held in 2022. Check out the full statement below.
