Let’s all send our prayers to Keyshia Cole and her family as it was announced today that her biological mother Frankie Lons, best known for her appearances on the BET reality show “Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is,” and her own show with her daughter Neffe “Frankie and Neffe” has passed away on her birthday due to an accidental overdose in her Oakland home.

Lons’ daughter Elite Noel broke the news this morning on Instagram, sharing it is the “worse pain ever” to see her mother in a body bag on her birthday.

According to TMZ, the ‘Heaven Sent’ star’s brother, Sam, spoke to the outlet this morning and confirmed Lons overdosed during her birthday celebration yesterday. He revealed that she was fighting a “long, hard-fought journey to sobriety.” Sam continues, sharing he was committed to helping Frankie get over her addiction with constant check-ins. He shares that the family wants the world to remember Lons as a loving mother who wanted her family to remain close despite her past history with drug use.

Last February, Cole posted an Instagram photo with her biological mother, sharing how proud she was of Lons for being 30 days sober. Cole’s caption reads “Do you believe in the power of love? What about lack thereof? 50/50
There’s strength in knowing there’s something or someone you can always lean back on,” the ‘Love’ singer wrote. She continued saying “This isn’t to discredit ANYONE this post is simply to say, that I’m proud of you shawty 😇 AKA #FrankDaBank 😘 #MommiesMatter.”

Rest in Peace Frankie Lons. She was 61.
