With the release of a new single titled “Spiral,” as well as an accompanying music video, 21 Savage is once again ready to make waves in 2021. The single comes on the heels of news that 21 Savage would be tasked with executive producing the soundtrack for the upcoming movie “Spiral: From the Book of Saw” starring Chris Rock.

This announcement is coming off a very successful 2020, highlighted by his reunion with Metro Boomin in creating “Savage Mode 2,” with Drake and Young Thug serving as guest features, in addition to Morgan Freeman voicing the interludes.

The 21 Savage and Saw movie franchise pairing makes sense with many comparing the sonics of “Savage Mode 2” to the feel of watching a horror movie. With the release of this new single produced by Kid Hazel, a frequent collaborator of 21 Savage with credits on songs such as “asmr,” “Immortal,” and “My Dawg” amongst others, fans got their first taste of what to expect from the “Spiral” soundtrack. The “formula” for this single follows the sonic reasoning of the hit songs that 21 Savage has become known for. With an ominous-sounding melody, paired with a solid amount of 808s to set the grim vibe for 21 Savage to rap over, this first single eliminates all doubt, if there was any that 21 Savage was the right artist to make this soundtrack.

While “Spiral: From the Book of Saw” and the soundtrack are scheduled to be released on May 14th, it is unclear whether the soundtrack will just be an EP of new music from 21 Savage or a joint effort with multiple artists being featured throughout.
