Meet JBanga Beats: Rising Producer In The NY Drill Scene

Published

on

JBanga Beats is a talented producer on the rise out of Queens, NY who’s quietly been racking up big placements with some of the biggest names in Brooklyn drill and New York hip hop.

You may recognize some of JBanga’s credits, having produced tracks for an impressive list of notable artists including Rah Swish, Ron Suno, Jay Critch, Young Chop, Maino, KGoddess, Toosii, and more. He’s also collabed with a staggering list of highly notable producers inside and out of the drill scene including Rico Run Dat, 808 Melo, Lex Luger, Ghosty UK, Luca, Young Dato, and Alex Shelnutt. And that’s only the beginning.

JBanga has big plans for 2021 and the talent to execute, keeping his foot on the gas with the upcoming historic collaboration between NYC-royalty Rowdy Rebel, Fetty Luciano, and the late-legend Pop Smoke, “Street Professor” co-produced by JBanga & Crown Beatz – not to mention several tracks with social media sensation-turned-real-deal-artist, Ron Suno, and collaborations with the legendary producer, Jahlil Beats on the way. And that’s just what’s been announced so far.

But who is JBanga Beats? In one sentence, JBanga is the embodiment of hustle, networking, and the producer grind. He’s worked his way from the ground up building his career one step, one track, one connection at a time – honing his craft and always letting his work speak for itself.

JBanga Beats grew up in a fairly regular, Peruvian-American household in Queens, New York. In his early teens, he got interested in playing the drums and committed to learning and one day mastering them. By the time he got to high school, he was a talented drummer and ended up being named the school orchestra’s lead drummer as a freshman, a spot where he remained throughout his high school career.

As he grew older and high school came to a close, he decided he wanted to expand his musical abilities and opportunities and decided to transfer his skills as a drummer to the soundboard – diving into production in his early years at college. Banga spent the next several years developing his sound, studying the game, and building his catalog with various smaller placements with local artists – before catching his first big break after connecting with buzzing drill artist and Pop Smoke-affiliate, Rah Swish

Like the start of many of JBanga’s relationships in the industry, this one came about after a simple DM looking to connect. Rah sent over his email and Banga started sending over beats – one of which turned into “Party Done” and two turned into “Double Texting” and “Who Shot You” off his 2019 project, Look What They Started. This opened the door for a placement on his next project, Rah Swish’s 2020 tribute album to his fallen brother, WOO Forever. The fourth track, “Hustlin” at that point was Banga’s biggest production credit, opening the door to even more opportunities with artists throughout the Brooklyn drill scene and beyond. No introduction, no inside connections, just good beats and good business.

This is more or less the same way he connected with his now manager, Bo Gotti and Stack Beyond Lifestyle – otherwise known as SBL Music Group, most known for managing the metoric rise of Ron Suno. After watching Suno, first as a hilarious social media personality and then as a bona fide drill artist, JBanga once again reached out directly via Instagram. A thoughtful, to-the-point DM to Ron Suno led to a reply with his manager’s email, which led to meeting Bo and eventually extending the offer to Banga to join SBL as one of their first producers – alongside fellow producers Julian and Miceo Beats and SBL artists Ron Suno, Jay Divino, and Siri Dinero

Today, JBanga doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. In 2020 he also became one of the cohosts of 3 Shots No Chaser, a platform created by Chase Simms to showcase up-and-coming talent, network with the rising class of artists, and ultimately break records. The show broadcasts out of Brooklyn, NY on DTF Radio and airs every Friday at 10pm EST.

Between his obvious talent for creating catchy, dynamic beats, big placements out the gate, and already looking to give back and build a platform to create new stars – it seems clear that we’re looking at the early stages of an important music producer in JBanga

Definitely keep your eye out for big things from JBanga Beats in 2021 – starting with Rowdy Rebel & Fetty Luciano’s “Street Professor” feat. Pop Smoke and multiple Ron Suno tracks, not to mention a fire collaboration with Jahlil Beats on the way (Check out the snippet below). If you’re looking for top notch beats and/or a polished, professional producer, take a page out of Banga’s book and send that email or DM… because prices are going up.
