No hope for a girl like me, how come they be winnin’ (How come they?)

Jazmine Sullivan Ft. H.E.R. – ‘Girl Like Me’

Jazmine Sullivan is resurfacing to the scene with her foot on everyone’s necks and has no intention of slowing down her progression anytime soon. With her forthcoming project “Heaux Tales,” on the premise of release on January 8th — the soulful songbird released a follow-up single from “Pick Up Your Feelings,” in which captivates the good girl gone bad mantra.

“Girl Like Me,” is an ode for acclaimed ‘good girls,’ who becomes overshadowed by societal adornment from promiscuous and provocative females. Produced by Bongo ByTheWay, the acoustic melody begins with Jazmine creating a Tinder profile after her beau left her to be with another woman. Unbeknownst to her for the reason of the breakup, the singer begins to question the reason of her beau’s straying.

The chorus signifies the presumption of ‘h*es be winnin’,’ and perhaps she should convert to that kind of lifestyle.

By verse three, H.E.R. makes her collaborative gestures, resonating with conveying the ‘good girl gone bad’ behavior. The song ends with both songstresses singing the chorus and bridge before the record comes to its conclusion.

“Heaux Tales,” will be the first project released from the R&B songbird since “Reality Show,” which released nearly six years ago. You can currently pre-save the album before its Friday release.
