Grammy award winning and Brooklyn native Cocoa Sarai is definitely representing for the chocolate girls, and she’s creating her very own lane as a new artist in today’s climate. Having already worked with music industry powerhouse Dr. Dre and collaborating with Anderson.Paak on his latest project, Cocoa is ready to spearhead her own journey as an artist.

After the release of her last single, “Coffee In the Morning,” and the powerful significant message behind the record, she’s back with another anthem simply titled, “Big Dummy.”

“Big Dummy” captures the concept of it having been worth every struggle. Set in the 50s, the story follows a day in the life of a struggling artist — the humiliation of being faced with peers who have become successful in their chosen career paths looking down on her, a car breaking down on the way to a gig, being paid close to nothing for performing and saving all of the money just for studio time. Plus, a tearjerker surprise: Cocoa’s late mother makes an appearance at the very end.

Cocoa says, “When I was writing the treatment, it was important that the visual captured what it really feels like to chase a dream that doesn’t pay right away. I wanted to be just as transparent in the visual as I was when I was writing the song.”
