In our second exclusive sit down conversational segment with Brooklyn born emcee Kai Ca$h, we covered a lot of ground. Our first interview with the rapper, author and designer was basically his introduction into the world of Hip-Hop. Backed by a musical family, with his father being connected to the late great Notorious B.I.G. and music mogul Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs aka Diddy, Kai was destined for greatness from birth. Being surrounded by the likes of Junior M.A.F.I.A. his entire life, the now 22 year old is making a name for himself. As a pre-teen, he started dabbling in music, even co-founded his very own clique called, CYN, which is also helmed by Diddy’s soon-to-be superstar son, Christian “King” Combs. Our very own Silva caught up with the budding entrepreneur once again to discuss his long-awaited new project, ‘Birth in the Borough’ (an ode to his hometown of Brooklyn), as he broke down all 9-cuts from start to finish. We talked about the success of his viral hit and collaboration with Combs on “The West,” which also featured incarcerated rapper 03 Greedo, the impact college had on him as an artist, his sound and not following the current New York City trend, the difference between Brooklyn vs Uptown (Harlem, Bronx), how the CYN mob came about and the members that make up the movement, his very own clothing line, GodGloryGold, his creativity, Nipsey Hussle’s passing and giving the greats their flowers while they’re still with us, Tyler, the Creator’s recent visit & freestyle on Funk Flex, coping with anxiety and using therapy as a result, and much more.
