Bad Boy’s musical acts of the 90s had swag like no other, and of course hits that stick like grits. One of those hits came from the bad girls themselves, Total, with the song entitled “Trippin.” “Trippin” was a 1998 R&B hit written by rapper and singer-songwriter Missy Elliott and co-produced by the label head Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs with hit makers Timbaland and Darryl Stephens. The song was sensual, sexy, swagged out and the Joseph Kahn directed video also fit those adjectives.
“Trippin” was the lead single of Total’s second, and unfortunately last, album ‘Kima, Keisha & Pam’ in 1998. Missy Elliott was chosen to write and produce for many songs on the album after she wrote their hit single “What About Us,” the Timbaland produced, soundtrack single for the 1997 movie ‘Soul Food.’ Missy also wrote songs such as “I Tried,” “Move Too Fast” and “Bet She Can’t” on the album. “Trippin” became Total’s biggest hit of their musical career, blasting to number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
