Transformed by trials, elevated by victory. Young Thug comes swinging with a new project, letting everyone know he’s not finished. UY SCUTI is Young Thug’s fourth studio album and sixteenth official solo release with his label, YSL. This album was released on September 26th, 2025. The name UY SCUTI is the name of the largest known star in the universe, which is quite fitting for Thug’s immense influence and towering presence in the rap world. This galactic star is deemed as the “emperor of stars,” symbolizing its unmatched scale and presence in the galaxy much like Thug’s stature in hip-hop. Beyond the music, this “big star” persona extends to his artistic and fashion choices including the controversial album cover art and his history of defying gender stereotypes with his style. The album name is a simple and cosmic expression of his confidence and willingness to push boundaries.

“I just feel big, you know. The name of my album UY Scuti. I feel like I’m one of the biggest stars.” – Young Thug, GQ

UY Scuti consists of 20 tracks with features from Cardi B, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Future, and more. Thug was released from prison on October 31st, 2024, resulting in fans wanting more music. On January 19th, 2025, Metro Boomin took to social media to confirm his involvement in Thug’s next project. Leading to an official announcement, Young Thug and his current girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist, were spotted at a basketball game in which the two held custom jerseys. Thug’s Jersey read “UY SCUTI.” A few days later, on April 11th, a billboard appeared via Young Thug’s label, “Young Stoner Life”, announcing: “UNIVERSE HAS BEEN TOO QUIET. UNTIL NOW. UY SCUTI.” Young Thug originally planned to drop his album on September 19th, but he didn’t want to interfere with Cardi B’s new album release as well so he postponed til the 26th.

Throughout the album, Thug finds different ways to express his truth, blending reflection with boldness. It’s a comeback that feels both powerful and healing after his legal troubles. Without naming names, he vents about betrayal and broken trust. He reflects on his severed relationship with Gunna, whom he continues to throw jabs at with the word “rat.” Not only does he focus on his rivalry, he takes time to reflect on his mistakes he made while in prison. In the seven-minute song, “Miss My Dogs,” he points his apologies to his loved ones and addresses the strained friendships, airing out guilt and gratitude in equal measure. In this album, he continues to test boundaries in the symbolism shown throughout the music videos and his lyricism. Most of the songs tap into his life behind bars and how much this transformed his mindset.

Thug sets the tone for UY Scuti by sampling a prosecutor’s audio referring to him as “the most dangerous of 28” alleged YSL members arrested and pleading with the judge not to let Thug receive a bond. The YSL leader flexes over cinematic production and still shows to the world his influence on the younger generation. As we all know Thug, he brings in quite a bit of controversy to everything that he creates. With different narratives flying, Thug turned to music to clear the air with an apology tour, which lifted the weight of the world off his shoulders. He spares nobody, as he addresses each and every conflict in the music industry. At times, rap can feel like a battle field, but it doesn’t get realer than reflection.
