Keke Palmer, whose real name is Lauren Keyana Palmer, addresses relationship and Usher serenade drama in her new single, My Confessions.The 31-year-old Illinois native goes into detail about what led up to the Twitter post from ex-boyfriend Darius.

In 2023, Palmer attended Usher’s Las Vegas residency at the Park MGM. Usher, who had started an interactive routine where he serenaded female celebrities during his set, continued the tradition that night. Keke, dressed in a sheer black dress, played along with the performance. However, videos of the interaction quickly went viral, prompting Palmer’s then-boyfriend to speak out.
Darius Jackson took to Twitter, posting, “It’s the outfit tho… you a mom,” sparking a heated online debate about whether a woman loses her sex appeal once she becomes a mother and whether men should comment on women’s bodies. Palmer later addressed the comments, stating she was “speechless” about the Twitter post. Days later, Jackson doubled down on his statement.
Taking to Twitter again, he wrote, “We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is.” The former TeenNick star continued to promote the night as harmless fun. Two years later, she’s finally breaking her silence on what really happened.
Keke Drops a New Single
On May 9, she took to her Instagram with an official post about her new single, My Confessions. In the caption, she stated, “Sometimes the closure we need doesn’t come from a conversation—it comes from being honest with ourselves. That’s what this song is. My peace. My clarity. My way of letting go.” The single breaks down her truth from the relationship.
Palmer starts the single heavy, letting the world know Darius had broken up with her in Vegas prior to the show. To cope with the breakup, she decided to have a night out with her girls. Unbeknownst to her, drama would unfold that she wasn’t aware of. She expresses how Jackson’s family didn’t like her initially, but she was okay with the dynamic.

Keke points out a switch-up, mentioning how Darius hated his family in the same way he now hates her. In one line, she says, “When did you get back on they side?”—highlighting the level of betrayal she felt.
