BBC’s New Diddy Documentary ‘The Rise and Fall’ Dives Into Stardom & Scandal

A new documentary exploring the highs, lows, and legal firestorm surrounding hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs is heading to the U.K.’s BBC network.
Titled P. Diddy: The Rise and Fall, the doc airs Monday, April 28 and promises to take a deep and sobering look at the music icon’s meteoric rise—and the unraveling that has recently shaken his legacy. The film explores how Diddy became one of the most influential figures in music, fashion, and pop culture, while also examining the systems that may have shielded him from accountability for years.
Hosted by broadcaster and journalist Yinka Bokinni, who also serves as an associate producer, the documentary comes at a pivotal moment in Diddy’s career. Once seen as untouchable in the entertainment world, recent lawsuits and allegations have painted a drastically different picture—prompting public scrutiny and fractured industry relationships.
“My job is to tell stories—but never did I imagine I’d be telling this one,” Bokinni shared via Rolling Stone. “Investigating the alleged actions of Diddy has forced a spotlight onto the darker side of an industry so many of us dream of belonging to.”
She adds that working on the film has been “emotional” and “difficult,” and teases that with an upcoming trial looming, what comes next could be “gripping—in the most sobering way.”
Produced by Eddie Hutton-Mills and Amelia Ellis, and executive produced by David DeHaney and Rachel Harvie, the documentary pulls no punches. Hutton-Mills also serves as director, with the creative team committed to unpacking the complex mix of power, money, influence, and allegations of corruption and sexism that frame Diddy’s current legal and cultural reckoning.
The BBC says the project will not only chronicle Diddy’s expansive impact on the music world—from Bad Boy Records to Revolt—but also analyze the cultural forces that have been at play throughout his decades-long career. Expect a balanced but unflinching lens on both the empire and the man behind it.
As the world watches Diddy’s legacy continue to evolve in real-time, P. Diddy: The Rise and Fall is sure to be one of the most talked-about documentaries of the year.
