What Are You Willing To Sacrifice?
The horror film “Him” focuses on the very scary and real-life headlines of CTE and other brain-related trauma in football. At first, it starts off like a standard Nike commercial but quickly transforms into a nightmarish depiction of the lengths rising stars are willing to go in order to make it to the big leagues. From the trailer’s release, there are all sorts of jarringly out-of-place images that are covered in vivid lighting and an arrangement of unexpected violence.
“Talent is how hard you’re willing to work,” Wayans emotes. “‘I’m never good enough’ — that’s how great people think. So you’re going to have to ask yourself, ‘What am I willing to sacrifice?’”
HIM is directed by Justin Tippings, who is best known for his films Kick, Flatbush Misdemeanors, and Joe vs.Carole. Tippings’ work mainly focuses on themes of masculinity, race, and violence through the lens of different marginalized characters and systemic failures. His work is similar to Peele’s and together, this film is predicted to be a huge success. By building intrigue with tone and only scratching the surface in terms of story, the HIM teaser is likely to leave viewers wanting more!
