Ja Rule Opens Up About His Anger Towards 50 Cent for Disrespecting Irv Gotti’s Death

Ja Rule has once again expressed his dislike for 50 Cent, this time in defense of his late friend Irv Gotti.
In a recent interview with The Breakfast Club, according to AllHipHop, the veteran New York rapper didn’t hold back about his long-standing rivalry with the G-Unit Films & TV mogul. Ja Rule stated that he’s not the one provoking 50 Cent, but he can’t just ignore him, especially after what he referred to as “goofy stuff” from his longtime rival.
“I don’t bring him up per se at all,” Ja Rule explained when asked about his connection to 50 Cent. “I think that’s because he’s a troll and he keeps it going. I’ll go to the circus once in a while, you know, but I really like to stay clear of that s###.”
Although Ja Rule acknowledged that much of their back-and-forth is just playful banter, he made it clear that 50’s mockery of Gotti’s death pushed him over the edge.
“I was hot, I was ready to go nuclear and s###,” he admitted, sharing how deeply the disrespect affected him, prompting him to seek advice from DJ Premier.
“Prem [DJ Premier] said it best,” he said. “He said, ‘Rule, you got to understand who we are and what we are. We are masters of self-defense.”
That statement resonated with Ja, who views himself not as a troublemaker but as someone prepared to finish what others initiate.
“I don’t want to start trouble, make trouble with people,” he stated. “But if we gotta get into it, make it—I’ll f###### end it.”
Throughout the conversation, Ja Rule stressed that he’s not looking to be a “bully” or a “bother,” but he won’t tolerate disrespect—especially towards his loved ones.
“You protect your family, your home, your honor, your name, your reputation,” he said. “That’s who we are as men.”
Ja Rule’s comments come in response to 50 Cent’s controversial posts following Gotti’s death in February. 50 Cent shared a photo of himself smoking hookah next to a tombstone prop, captioning it, “I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack. Nah God bless him ️[dove emoji] LOL.”
Ja Rule, reflecting on the years of real violence that included fights, stabbings, and shootings, highlighted the double standards in how people remember the past. “People play that when they want to play that and then play victim when they want to play,” he remarked.
When asked if he has made amends with anyone from the other side, Ja confirmed he’s on good terms with The Game and Busta Rhymes, and he’s even had a peaceful encounter with Eminem.
