Trill Tai Forges Own Path, Prioritizes Authenticity Over Deals

In an industry often defined by record deals and fleeting trends, rapper Trill Tai is carving out his own lane, prioritizing authenticity and ownership above all else. With his upcoming release, “Can’t Count Me Out 3,” dropping in late April, Tai is solidifying his status as an independent force.
“Ownership is imperative,” Tai told The Associated Press, explaining his decision to remain unsigned. “I’m open to it if the situation is right, though.”
For Tai, success isn’t just about talent; it’s about strategy and relationships. He emphasizes the importance of building genuine connections in the industry, stating, “Don’t let your personal feelings get in the way of business. Relationships mean more than money.”
From the outset, Tai understood the multifaceted nature of the music business. He adopts a hands-on approach to building his fanbase, prioritizing personal interaction. “Just being present and being hands-on,” he said. “I like for the people to see I’m a real person before an artist—then they be like, ‘Wow, you really are you.’”
This authenticity extends to his collaborations. Tai values character and work ethic over fleeting fame. “I like to collaborate with people that aren’t lazy,” he explained. “My best features come from people with good character—that’s why I like to meet with people before I do tracks with them.”
While many artists grapple with staying relevant, Tai remains unfazed. “I’m in my own lane and I’m on God’s timing,” he said. “I keep my ear open to hear the new waves, but I stay grounded by burying myself in the studio and being humble.”
With “Can’t Count Me Out 3,” Tai is proving that consistency is key. He’s determined to make his own way, one track at a time. “I plan on dropping until I take over the world,” he declared. “And I’m not gon’ stop.”
