Jamie Foxx Speaks on Black Lives Matter and Black Excellence in Hollywood

Jamie Foxx is using his platform to highlight the power of the Black Lives Matter movement and the importance of Black representation in Hollywood.
While promoting his upcoming docuseries, Number One On The Call Sheet, Foxx spoke about the criticism the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement has faced over the years. He compared it to how Black-led initiatives often get questioned or dismissed.
“When you look at Black Lives Matter being ripped up. I told somebody… [BLM] is not about the organization. It was a moment in time that we all, all over the world, said ‘Wow, something bad happened,’” Foxx said.
He pointed out that even Number One On The Call Sheet—which celebrates Black actors who’ve made it to the top—has faced questions about why it focuses on “Black excellence.”
Foxx made it clear: Representation matters. He explained that not too long ago, Black entertainers weren’t given the same opportunities as others in Hollywood. Now, as more Black actors rise to success, it’s important to celebrate and recognize their journey.
With Number One On The Call Sheet, Foxx is shining a light on Black talent and proving that their success is worth highlighting.
