Doechii Shines Bright with Billboard Woman of the Year Award

Hip-hop is making a big comeback, and Doechii is one of the artists leading the charge to reclaim its top spot. Hailing from Florida, she’s found her niche in a genre that embraced her from the get-go. Lately, she’s been on a roll with a stream of achievements and new opportunities.
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, per XXL, she snagged the Best Rap Album award for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, and she was named Outstanding New Artist at the 2025 NAACP Image Awards. Plus, she got to perform with one of her idols, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and made a splash at Paris Fashion Week in stunning designs by Sam Wolf. The 26-year-old, who calls herself the Swamp Princess, is also being recognized as Billboard’s Woman of the Year for 2025.
Billboard shared the exciting news yesterday, March 10, just before their annual Women in Music event, where Doechii will be honored on March 29 at the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park, Inglewood, California. Just two years ago, she took home the Rising Star award at the same event, hinting at her bright future. She’s proven herself time and again, but this recognition is just the icing on the cake.
Doechii’s unique style, magnetic personality, and artistic talent were evident even a decade ago on YouTube. Her very first video featured her singing a cover of “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” from Disney’s Frozen. She shared her life’s ups and downs, from moving into her own place to getting fired, along with thrift hauls and story times. She was a YouTube sensation, and as her audience connected with her, she also took them along on her journey as an artist.
Doechii has dedicated years to breaking barriers and crafting a unique style that truly represents her. Winning the Billboard Woman of the Year award just shows that she’s made it to the top on her own terms. Award well deserved!
