Diddy Mother Sued Over Alleged Scheme to Seize Bad Boy Stake

Janice Smalls-Combs, the mother of “Diddy” ,is being sued by Kirk Burrowes, who claims she orchestrated a scheme to take his 25% stake in Bad Boy Entertainment.
According to court documents obtained by DailyMail, Burrowes alleges that in 1996, Diddy and Bad Boy attorney Kenneth Meiselas stormed into his New York City office with a baseball bat, intimidating him into signing over his shares to Smalls-Combs. The lawsuit states that Burrowes, overwhelmed with fear, had “tears streaming down his face” and was “clearly unable to resist under the circumstances.”
Although Smalls-Combs was not present during the alleged incident, Burrowes claims she was the mastermind behind it. He further accuses her of engaging in a “decades-long scheme of intimidation, violence, fraudulent misrepresentation, and financial concealment” to maintain control of Bad Boy. He asserts that she worked to erase him from the music industry by blacklisting him, blocking business opportunities, and damaging his reputation.
Burrowes, who previously served as Bad Boy’s president and general manager, also claims to have witnessed instances of Diddy physically overpowering his mother and using derogatory slurs against her. He alleges that despite promises—including a 2019 commitment at Diana Ross’s birthday celebration to “make things right”—Smalls-Combs and Diddy repeatedly failed to honor their financial commitments to him.
The lawsuit seeks financial restitution for lost earnings, reinstatement of Burrowes’ ownership stake, and a forensic audit of Bad Boy Entertainment’s finances.
Burrowes’ attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, stated, “We are confident that the legal process will hold those responsible accountable and ensure that justice prevails.” Burrowes himself directed a message at Smalls-Combs, saying, “Janice Smalls, we started this as a family unit. I believed in Sean’s talent, and I delivered. I looked out for your family, and you let them destroy mine. See you in court.”
While Diddy himself is not named as a defendant in this lawsuit, it adds to the legal troubles surrounding his name. He remains incarcerated at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, awaiting trial on multiple charges, including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution.
