A$AP Rocky Faces Civil Lawsuit Despite Criminal Trial Acquittal

Although A$AP Rocky was acquitted in his criminal assault trial, A$AP Relli is moving forward with his civil lawsuit against the rapper.
According to Rolling Stone, Relli’s attorney, Melissa Mikail, confirmed that the lawsuit—originally filed in August 2022—will proceed, with a trial date now set for January 12, 2026. “The standard in a criminal case is much higher than the preponderance of the evidence standard in a civil matter,” Mikail stated. “We still believe our claims have merit and intend on fully litigating them.”
Rocky’s attorney, James Sargent, dismissed the lawsuit, arguing that the jury’s unanimous not-guilty verdict should have put an end to the case. “There’s no longer a basis for them,” he said. “Mr. Ephron testified in the criminal case, and the jury’s acquittal speaks volumes. We look forward to full vindication.”
The lawsuit stems from a 2021 incident where Rocky allegedly fired a gun at Relli during a heated argument. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for May 28.
