Tory Lanez Denies Agreement to Testify in Megan’s Lawsuit
Tory Lanez lawyer denies claims that he agreed to testify in the Megan Thee Stallion’s defamation lawsuit, stating he has not involvement in the case.
The lawsuit targets blogger Milagro Cooper, also known as Milagro Gramz, who Megan accuses of spreading false information and harassing her online at the direction of Tory Lanez. In a statement released on Monday, February 24, Caesar McDowell, CEO of Unite The People (UTP), addressed the matter, clarifying that Tory Lanez is not a party to Megan’s lawsuit against Cooper. McDowell stated, “Tory Lanez is not party to Megan Thee Stallion’s lawsuit against UTP client Milagro Cooper, and therefore UTP is not obligated to produce Tory Lanez for a deposition. Nor did UTP agree or disagree.”
The situation escalated earlier that day when Megan’s legal team filed a motion in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, requesting a judge to mandate Tory’s deposition. The filing reveals that Megan’s attorneys seek to question Tory, currently incarcerated for the 2020 shooting incident involving Megan, regarding his involvement with Cooper.
Megan’s attorneys argue that Tory’s deposition is crucial to the investigation of Cooper’s conduct and their ongoing relationship. The motion specifies that Tory has shown no opposition to being questioned, prompting Chief United States District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga to approve the motion. The ruling requires Tory to participate in a deposition, which can take place via videoconference or another agreed-upon method.
The defamation lawsuit, filed by Megan in October 2024, accuses Cooper of spreading damaging falsehoods about the rapper, including claims that Tory Lanez orchestrated the harassment. Megan amended the lawsuit in December, asserting that despite his incarceration for the shooting, Tory continued to influence Cooper’s actions from behind bars. Court documents reveal that phone call logs from Tory’s prison conversations show he and his father discussed Cooper, with the Petersons reportedly confident that Megan would be unable to prove that Tory paid Cooper to attack her.
As part of the legal proceedings, Megan has obtained a restraining order against Tory Lanez, which remains in effect until 2030. The restraining order follows the conviction of Tory for shooting Megan, an incident that has sparked widespread public attention and legal battles.
Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi for the shooting. His role in the defamation lawsuit remains a significant point of contention, with both Megan’s team and Tory’s legal representatives continuing to battle over his involvement.
The case is ongoing, and the deposition, once scheduled, will likely play a key role in the broader legal dispute surrounding Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion.
