Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s “Luther” Hits No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100

Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s collaboration “Luther” has ascended to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, marking Lamar’s sixth No. 1 single and SZA’s third.
The track, which pays tribute to the late R&B legend Luther Vandross by sampling his music, replaces Lamar’s own “Not Like Us” at No. 1. “Luther” has quickly gained traction across multiple platforms, including radio airplay and streaming, as the track continues to build momentum.
The song was also featured during Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime performance on February 9, further boosting its chart position. Lamar and SZA performed it as the eighth song in a set of 11, helping solidify its position atop the charts. Just a week earlier, Lamar’s diss track aimed at Drake, “Not Like Us,” had returned to No. 1 following his Super Bowl performance, marking a brief reign at the top.
While “Luther” has now claimed the top spot on the Hot 100, Drake continues to creep up with his latest music. “Luther” has been a major force in several Billboard charts. The song jumps 2-1 on the Streaming Songs chart, becoming Lamar’s seventh No. 1 there and SZA’s third. The track also saw a rise to No. 4 in its second week on Digital Song Sales and reached No. 6 on the Radio Songs chart, with a notable performance on Rhythmic Airplay. It also remains a top contender on Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Adult R&B Airplay.
This chart-topping success continues a remarkable year for Lamar, who has now scored four Hot 100 No. 1s in just 11 months, marking the fastest accumulation of four leaders since BTS in 2020-2021. Lamar joins an elite group of male artists with a swift rise to the top, becoming the first to achieve such a feat since Michael Jackson in the late 1980s.
