Cardi B and Tasha K Settle Defamation Lawsuit After Years

After a years-long legal battle, the defamation lawsuit between Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B and gossip vlogger Tasha K appears to be nearing its conclusion. The two parties have reached a settlement agreement in which Tasha K, born Latasha Kebe, will pay $1.2 million in installments over the next five years.

This marks the latest development in a legal saga that began in 2019 when Cardi B sued Tasha K for defamation, invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The suit followed a series of false and damaging claims made by Tasha K, particularly regarding Cardi’s health and her marriage to rapper Offset. The media personality’s statements, which were spread across her YouTube platform, caused the rapper significant distress, leading to the defamation judgment of $4 million in Cardi’s favor.

However, Tasha K claimed to be bankrupt, which led to the court-approved settlement under Chapter 11 reorganization. According to the terms of the agreement, the payout will start at $176,532 in the first year and gradually increase to $318,653 by the fifth and final year. While this payment plan is in place, Cardi B retains the right to pursue any unpaid balance, potentially garnishing Tasha’s wages if necessary.

In addition to the financial settlement, Tasha K has agreed to refrain from making any further “derogatory, disparaging, or defamatory” comments about Cardi B, both on her social media and in her online content. However, the terms also allow Cardi B the freedom to speak publicly about Tasha, should she choose to do so.

Cardi’s legal counsel, Lisa Moore, issued a statement expressing satisfaction with the outcome, highlighting the strong protective measures built into the settlement. “We are thrilled to put in place such an incredibly unprecedented and protective plan for Cardi,” Moore remarked. “We don’t believe the false tears, and we protect against them.”

While Tasha K may try to spin the situation as a victory, Moore emphasized that this is far from a win for the vlogger. With the stringent conditions and the ongoing financial obligation, the court’s decision ensures Cardi B’s interests are safeguarded in the final phase of the case.

This resolution marks the end of a contentious chapter in the world of celebrity gossip and online media, with the settlement offering Cardi B a sense of closure while sending a clear message about the consequences of spreading false and harmful information.
