Voletta Wallace, mother of The Notorious B.I.G., passed away Friday morning in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The Monroe County Coroner confirmed her death was due to natural causes while she was in hospice care.

After her son’s tragic death in 1997, Voletta took charge of his estate. She successfully grew his wealth from $10 million to an estimated $160 million.

Voletta was a strong advocate for Biggie’s legacy and achievements. She often shared posts celebrating his accomplishments on her Instagram account. She also supported the 2009 biopic “Notorious,” explaining its importance in preserving his story.

Voletta was 72 years old at the time of her passing.
