Irv Gotti has sadly passed away at the age of 54. The co-founder of Murder Inc. had some health issues leading up to his death, including a stroke and a brain bleed, but the exact cause hasn’t been disclosed yet. His family shared a touching message about their loss after the news broke.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Irving ‘Irv Gotti’ Lorenzo, on February 5, 2025. Surrounded by family and friends, he departed this world, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him and the countless lives he touched,” read the statement. “Our dad was an incredible man, a true visionary who transformed the hip-hop industry and changed the game for artists and fans alike. His passion for music and dedication to his craft inspired many, and his contributions will continue to influence future generations.” Gotti’s passing has left the hip-hop world heartbroken, and Wednesday February 19th, a private funeral was held for his loved ones.

Ja Rule took a moment on stage to honor Irv, according to HotNewHipHop, getting a bit emotional as he spoke. “I just want to say, Irv, I love you,” he expressed. “Everyone in this room loves you. You made an impact on all of us.” Jay-Z was seen in the front row, applauding after Ja’s heartfelt tribute. The funeral was held after it was announced that the public service would be canceled. Celebrities including Charli Baltimore, Ashanti, Gail King, Lloyd, Vita, Fat Joe, and Hype Williams were all in attendance.

A post on Gotti’s official Instagram stated, “Please note that the funeral services for Irving ‘Irv Gotti’ Lorenzo will not happen on Tuesday, February 18th. Instead, there will be a private gathering for family and close friends on Wednesday. After that, a public procession will take place, with more details to come. Thank you.”
