2025 Roots Picnic Announces Star-Studded Lineup With D’Angelo, Meek Mill, Lenny Kravitz & GloRilla to Perform

D’Angelo, along with The Roots, Meek Mill, and Lenny Kravitz, will be the main acts for the 2025 Roots Picnic, which is set to be the festival’s 17th year.

This year is particularly special for Philly rapper Meek Mill, as it marks his first time performing at Roots Picnic. He was supposed to headline the 2020 event, but the pandemic shifted things to a virtual format. D’Angelo last graced the festival in 2016 during its inaugural New York edition. Meanwhile, rock legend Lenny Kravitz is riding high after dropping his twelfth studio album, Blue Electric Light, which showcases his signature funky style.

The two-day festival will also honor some significant anniversaries. Jeezy will celebrate 20 years of his classic album Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, which dominated the charts in 2005, with a special performance. Musiq Soulchild will also take the stage to mark the 25th anniversary of his beloved debut album, Aijuswanaseing. The Roots will join in on the celebration with a set dedicated to the 30-year anniversary of their iconic sophomore album, Do You Want More?!!!??!

Additionally, J. Period’s Live Mixtape series is making a comeback, featuring special guests like Black Thought, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz. Adam Blackstone and Jagged Edge will team up for a unique collaborative performance. House music legends Crystal Waters and CeCe Peniston will be part of Rich Medina’s Black House set, and CeeLo Green is set to perform at Baller Alert’s go-go stage.

According to Billboard, other artists scheduled to perform include GloRilla, Miguel, Tems, Latto, Kaytranada, Elmiene, Lay Bankz, Funk Flex, Diamond Kuts, and Laila!

On top of the performances, Roots Picnic is rolling out a new day party lineup this year. Attendees can enjoy Trap Karaoke, Chill Vibes with DJ Active, Doo-Wop …That R&B Party, Dear Summer Festival, Kirk Franklin’s Sunday School with DJ Mal-Ski, Philly Black Pride, and more!
