Drake Might Be Done With Rap Beefs on “Gimme a Hug”

Drake and PartyNextDoor just set the tone for Valentine’s Day with their long-awaited joint album, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U. The 21-track project dropped today (Feb. 14), marking their first full-length collaboration. The album blends smooth R&B elements with signature OVO vibes, proving the duo’s chemistry remains unmatched.
One standout track, “Gimme a Hug”, has fans talking as Drake seemingly addresses his past rap feuds. On the record, he spits, “Drake elimination, fake intimidation/Take a minute, take a deep breath, have a little bit of patience.” Later, he adds, “They be dropping sht but we dropping harder sht, f**k all the rap beef I’m trying to get the party lit.” The bars suggest the Toronto star may be leaving lyrical battles behind and shifting his focus.
Drake doesn’t hold back, either. He appears to take a jab at Joe Budden, rapping, “Melyssa Ford, you a legend from The 6 hate to see you with a d**k sucker.” While some fans think it’s a direct shot at Budden, others believe Drake is just setting the record straight.

The rollout for $ome $exy $ongs 4 U has been in motion since last summer. During PartyNextDoor’s Sorry I’m Outsidetour stop in Toronto, Drake teased the project, telling fans, “When it gets a little chilly, PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be waiting right there for you.” In the months leading up to the release, both artists continued to hint at the collaboration, with Party calling one track his “favorite” joint effort with Drizzy.
The album cover, revealed just days before the release, features the duo standing in front of the Absolute World skyscrapers in Mississauga, Ontario. The project also includes the highly anticipated track “Crying in Chanel”, which had been teased earlier.
This marks Drake’s first full-length release since his lyrical war with Kendrick Lamar last spring. In the meantime, he’s kept busy dropping loose singles, making guest appearances, and even sharing old footage on social media. PartyNextDoor, on the other hand, last released PartyNextDoor 4 (P4) in April 2024.
With $ome $exy $ongs 4 U now out, it looks like Drake and PartyNextDoor are ready to move past the drama and keep the music flowing.
