Wendy Williams has accused her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., of misusing her finances before her conservatorship was established. In an interview with TMZ’s Harvey Levin, Williams revealed that Hunter used her money without her knowledge or consent, crossing boundaries she considered inappropriate. She also expressed relief that her accounts were frozen by Wells Fargo.

“Saving Wendy,” a documentary on Tubi, explores her ongoing conservatorship and life in a New York facility. The film sheds light on her struggles after her finances were flagged by her bank for suspicious activity, which led to the court-appointed guardianship in 2022.

Ginalisa Monterroso, founder of Connect Care Advisory, explained that large withdrawals from Williams’ account were flagged by Wells Fargo, prompting the legal intervention. She confirmed the suspicion that someone had unauthorized access to Williams’ funds, which led to the temporary freeze on her assets.

Williams spoke candidly about her belief that her conservatorship stems from her finances. “It’s about holding my money and using it for others, leaving me with nothing,” she stated, indicating how financial mismanagement led to her current situation.

Despite these tensions, Williams defended her son, stating that although he has made mistakes, he still has a good heart. She reflected on his behavior and the troubling circumstances surrounding his actions with her money, particularly in relation to his rental boat incident.

Hunter Jr. has denied the allegations, including the claim he was given $113,000 instead of $1,500 for a birthday boat rental. Williams expressed that her son is not the only one involved in her financial mismanagement, suggesting other individuals may also be responsible.

In the documentary, Williams openly demands her freedom, stating she feels trapped. When asked about her limited outings, she confirmed that she had only been allowed to leave her facility twice in the past month, feeling as though her situation resembles imprisonment. She ended with a heartfelt plea for her independence and life back.
