Rising R&B star TA Thomas is back with a new single, “Preach”, a sultry track that finds him captivated by his love interest’s undeniable charm. Written by Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lucky Daye, the song delves into temptation and desire, with TA surrendering to the moment.
“How’d you get that body to preach? / Let it speak to me, baby / Like it does in my dreams / Oh, I need a witness / The choir’s with me,” he croons on the chorus.
Produced by Camper, with additional writing contributions from TA Thomas and Mike “Hunnid” McGregor, “Preach” follows his 2024 singles “Angry” and “Risky”. All three tracks will be featured on his upcoming project, The Southern Soul EP, set to drop later this year via Def Jam Recordings.
“This Southern Soul EP is really me paying homage to home,” the Mississippi native shared with Rated R&B.
The project marks his first major-label release, following his independently released 2022 EP, Caught Between 2 Worlds, which was also produced by Camper. Known for his work with Brandy, H.E.R., Tamar Braxton, Coco Jones, and Ro James, Camper has played a significant role in shaping TA’s sound.
Before launching his solo career, TA Thomas was part of the now-disbanded R&B group Next Town Down. The group released their debut EP, Juliet, in 2019 under RCA Records, featuring collaborations with 6LACK, Rich The Kid, and Calboy.
Since going solo, TA has also made his mark as a songwriter, co-writing “Talm’ Bout” from Chris Brown’s Grammy-nominated album Breezy (Deluxe).
