Rihanna is Back! New Music Finally on The Way!

The Smurfs are back, and this time, Rihanna is leading the way! The official trailer just dropped, and she’s stepping into the role of Smurfette.

RiRi herself introduces the teaser, waving at fans before being joined by some of the mini blue icons. “Hey everyone! I’m Smurfette, and I can’t wait for y’all to see this.” The trailer kicks off with Smurfette showing us around Smurf Village, calling herself “the coolest Smurf in the whole village” while the crew turns up to “Don’t Stop the Music.”

The vibe takes a wild turn when Papa Smurf gets snatched up by what looks like a UFO, forcing Smurfette and the gang to step into the real world to save him.Fans quickly peep Rihanna’s voice covering Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven Is A Place on Earth”, giving the film an unexpected nostalgic twist.The soundtrack is bringing heat too! The trailer confirms new music from Rihanna and previews Desi Trill’s track “Higher Love” featuring Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Natania, and Subhi.

The film’s cast is stacked, with names like James Corden, Nick Offerman, Octavia Spencer, Kurt Russell, Xolo Maridueña, and John Goodman as Papa Smurf.Originally announced at CinemaCon 2023, this Paramount x Nickelodeon project has Rihanna not only starring but also co-producing alongside Jay Brown, Ty Ty Smith, and Ryan Harris.Dropping in theaters July 18, this film also marks Rihanna’s return to music, a moment we’ve been waiting on since Anti (2016).
