Musical Powerhouses SZA and Kendrick Lamar Confirm Super Bowl Halftime Show Appearance
Kendrick Lamar is set to have a special guest at the Super Bowl.
A new trailer for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show dropped on Thursday, revealing that SZA will be joining Lamar for the performance on February 9.
In the trailer, Kendrick is seen chatting on the phone while on a football field, mentioning he’s been considering a guest performance. Just then, SZA sneaks up behind him and douses him with a bucket of Gatorade in slow motion. SZA, who used to be with Top Dawg Entertainment alongside Lamar, has collaborated with him on several tracks in the past. Their recent songs “luther” and “30 For 30” have really struck a chord with fans, who are eager to hear them live along with other hits.
This announcement, per USAToday, comes just days after SZA’s film with Keke Palmer, “One of Them Days,” scored big at the box office, landing at No. 2 and earning rave reviews.
Back in December, SZA and Kendrick revealed they would be hitting the stage together on their Grand National Tour that kicks off in April. It looks like they’ll be getting some practice in New Orleans on one of the biggest stages in the world.
While we don’t have all the details about the show yet, it’s definitely shaping up to be something special. Check out the trailer below!
