Chris Brown Captivates Hearts with New Video Release for Love Ballad ‘Residuals’

Chris Brown just dropped the official music video for his fan-favorite love track, “Residuals.”

Directed by Travis Colbert, the video captures Breezy pouring his emotions out to a packed stadium, reminiscent of his 2024 11:11 tour. We see him belting out the poignant lyrics, according to VIBE, in various settings, from the recording booth to an alley, and even while speeding in a car—until it all comes to a dramatic crash.

The climax features Brown singing into a hanging mic, draped in a red bandana, in what looks like a celestial stadium in the afterlife. There, he gets a glimpse of the love of his life before she fades away for good.

“Residuals,” a standout track from his eleventh studio album and tour, explores the pain of seeing someone else receive the love that was once his. The song is a deep dive into bittersweet memories, leaving listeners wondering if it’s based on real experiences.

“Who’s getting all my love?/ Tell me who … Who’s getting all my time? All of that used to be mine/ Who did you teach what I taught ya?/ Better not give him my nickname/ I don’t like thinking about it, I swear that it’s wearing me down…” he expresses.

He also shares the heart-wrenching lines: “Made it clear you didn’t wanna see the sequel/ I was lying when I said the feeling’s mutual/ It took some time to realize that we’re different people/ And love is blind, I see love is blind.”

“Residuals” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Rhythmic chart and No. 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts, even going Gold in New Zealand. His album 11:11, released on November 11, 2023, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B Albums chart, selling 45,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.
