Aaliyah’s Brother Believes She Would Reign As The World’s Biggest Star Today If She Were Alive
Rashad Haughton, Aaliyah’s brother, is reminiscing about his sister’s impact on what would have been her 46th birthday.
In a recent chat with PEOPLE, according to HipHopDX, Rashad confidently stated that if Aaliyah were still here, she would be “the biggest star in the world.”
“Her legacy continues on,” he mentioned. “So we can imagine, we can dream, but we still have all those incredible works that she did do.”
He also shared some heartfelt memories about Aaliyah’s kindness and how much he misses her laughter. “My sister, although she worked so hard, she always was loving and caring to the people around her. Her makeup artists, the managers,” he said. “A lot of times, because we go through so much in this world… a lot of people are suffering, the main thing is you have to smile through the pain, smile through the challenges and hug people. I think when people talk about my sister, the number one thing was that she was such a loving and caring person.”
Regarding her new Barbie doll, which he helped design with Mattel, Rashad said, “I can totally picture her playing with these dolls wherever she is now, which I believe is in a beautiful place. She’d be dancing with her doll, doing all the moves from ‘One in a Million.’”
The official Barbie account revealed the new doll on Aaliyah’s birthday, January 16.
The Aaliyah Music Series Barbie is inspired by her 1996 music video for “One in a Million,” featuring a black faux leather outfit, her signature shades, and that iconic swoop hairstyle. Although pre-sales are already sold out, the doll is definitely making waves.
