Lil Baby to Release New Album

Lil Baby, born Dominique Armani Jones, released his fourth studio album WHAM on January 3 and the Atlanta native is already gearing up for his fifth release.

In an interview with Complex the “Emotionally Scarred” rapper spoke about his goal with his newest album, WHAM. Baby states this album is reminisce of his “young ni–a street sh-t” but Dominique, his self titled fifth studio album will be different.

Lil Baby says that Dominique will be “more emotional and more vulnerable”. He described this project as heartfelt and more direct in certain topics. Baby views WHAM as a warm up and states that Dominique will be more strategic and has a grown sound.

The “BAND4BAND” rapper says that Lil Baby is an alter ego he created and he has outgrown that era. He views He views his current album as the middle ground of his persona and himself. When questioned on why he’s releasing two albums consecutively and separately. He advised that he is not a fan of double disc albums and preferred it this way. Baby mentions that Dominique was slated to be released first but plans quickly changed.

“So to just go from Lil Baby to Dominique, I feel like that would’ve been too big of a jump for them”

The Atlanta-born rapper who lives a private life says despite having a dramatic growth change, fans didn’t get to see it firsthand. Baby believed that presenting that to fans without a middle ground would have been overwhelming. So, he decided to go back to the drawing board and “tighten it up a little bit and ease their way into it.”

Dominique self-titled fifth studio album, Dominique does not have an official release date yet but is rumored to be expected around end of February.
