Erica Mena Apologizes to Nicki Minaj

Erica Mena, who has two kids with ex-husband Safaree Samuels , appeared on the Dumb Blonde Podcast to issue a much-needed apology to Nicki Minaj.

The Love and Hip Hop co-stars got married in 2019 after Samuels publicly courted Mena for a few months. During their three-year relationship, the couple welcomed two children, Safire Majesty and Legend Brian. The pair, whose relationship ended in September 2022, faced public scrutiny as they frequently showcased their issues on Instagram.

The 37-year-old Newburgh native joined the podcast, hosted by Bonnie XO, to share her thoughts on her relationship with her ex-husband. While discussing a Chinese parlor, Bonnie XO mentioned Nicki Minaj, prompting Mena to interject, saying, “I owe her the biggest apology.”

Mena, in the podcast, goes on to mention that she ignored several red flags during the relationship. She stated that Safaree would talk to her about the negative things the “Super Bass” rapper had done to him. The Love and Hip Hop star said, “I owe this woman an apology because I sat and allowed him to talk about her to me.” Mena goes on to explain that, as a woman in love, she chose to defend her man, saying things that came off as tacky about Minaj.

Mena also revealed that Safaree was sharing videos of Nicki around the industry and claiming he wrote her songs, a claim Safaree debunked earlier this month in a podcast with Keyshia Ka’oir. Erica makes it clear that everything Nicki has stated about Safaree is now true, as she has been able to witness it firsthand.
