Emanny Returns with Soulful New EP ‘Before H3R’
It serves as a lead-up to his highly anticipated album, ‘Songs About HER 3.’
Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter Emanny is back with a new EP, Before H3R, a three-track project that sets the stage for his next album, Songs About HER 3.
The EP opens with “B.D.E.” (short for “big d—k energy”), a sultry and confident single where Emanny invites his partner to embrace her desires. “Don’t be afraid to let go / So if you want it that much / Come get this energy,” he sings over a classic-inspired groove.
Speaking about the track’s creation, Emanny told Rated R&B:
“I remember going to bed the night before creating this record, listening to nothing but classic soul records and thinking, ‘Most of these songs have standout but simple bass lines.’”
Collaborating with producers The Nukez Muzik, Emanny aimed to blend the essence of classic soul with a modern twist.
“I said, ‘This is what we need! Find a way to take the core elements of our classic soul/R&B records and just update it. Give today’s audience the same energy those songs gave me,’” he explained.
The EP also features the introspective “Atl,” a slow-burning ballad where Emanny attempts to salvage a crumbling relationship, and “Don’t Give Up,” a heartfelt plea for grace and forgiveness.
Before H3R marks Emanny’s first release since his 2023 EP Sept 18th and serves as a transitional project as he prepares for his upcoming full-length album. Reflecting on his creative process, he shared: “It feels great to be back in a free creative space musically. I love performing, but creating projects brings me even greater joy. Each project feels like giving birth to a child and watching it grow.”
Emanny’s Songs About HER series began in 2012 with the debut installment, which featured collaborations like “I Messed Up” with Joe Budden and “Young and Ready” featuring Jadakiss. He followed it up with Songs About YOU in 2013 and Songs About HER 2 in 2014, solidifying his place in the R&B world.
Outside of his music career, Emanny co-hosts The Joe Budden Podcast, adding another dimension to his creative portfolio.
