Cardi B is making headlines again, this time addressing backlash surrounding her latest partnership with SHEIN. On Tuesday (Dec. 3), the Grammy-winning rapper shared a promotional video for the fast-fashion giant’s holiday sale, but not everyone was supportive. Critics accused Cardi of relying on brand deals, prompting her to set the record straight in a candid Twitter Spaces session.

Cardi Speaks Out on Brand Deals

“People [are] saying I’m surviving off SHEIN deals and brand deals… I want to let y’all know that I can wake up tomorrow, sign a contract, and I will have half of $65 million, or half of $70 million,”

Cardi said, referencing a touring deal she was offered earlier this year.

She revealed that the deal, made in September, included $1.1 million per show, $1.5 million for festival appearances, and $65 million for a tour — provided she met the required number of dates. Cardi, however, has opted to hold off on touring until the release of her sophomore album.

“Mind you, this [is] my off year,” she explained. “I don’t want to take tour deals until I announce my album ‘cause when I announce my album, I know they’re going to up it. You have to move smart… You can’t act hungry, especially when you’re not.”

Cardi’s Strategic Moves

While her touring schedule has been sparse in recent years, Cardi hasn’t been absent from the stage. In May, she made a surprise appearance at Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hot Girl Summer Tour” at Madison Square Garden, performing “WAP.” She also graced the BET Experience in June with live renditions of “I Like It” and “Up.”

Beyond performances, Cardi has kept busy with lucrative brand partnerships, including her popular Whipshots vodka line and a deal with NYX cosmetics.

The rapper also teased big plans for 2025, including her highly anticipated second studio album.

“Next year, my album will be out, my secret businesses will be out — I can’t tell y’all what I’m working on,”

she hinted in November.

For now, Cardi is focused on her music and business empire while reminding critics of her financial independence. “I spend about [$3 million] in a month,” she revealed. Given her track record, the Bronx native is clearly playing the long game, blending strategic business moves with her artistry.
