GRAMMY-winning global superstar Ricky Martin delivered an unforgettable performance at the AIDS Healthcare Foundation World AIDS Day event in Miami, Florida.
The “La Mordidita” singer brought fans to their feet as they danced and sang along to Ricky’s hit singles in both English and Spanish. This years World AIDS Day was held at The University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
Every year on December 1 the AIDS Healthcare Foundation celebrates world AIDS Day. This event is used as an opportunity for communities to unite in the fight against HIV. It showcases an immense support for people living with HIV while remembering those we’ve lost.
The Puerto Rican born star has consistently used his platform to stand in defense with those affected. Martin has utilized his success to shine light on HIV/AIDS, human trafficking, and LGBTQIA+ rights. Further highlighting why he was an ideal choice to headline the 2024 event.
The event opened with a performance by Brooklyn’s own DJ Spinderella. AHF had the pleasure of presenting its Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Julio Frenk, University of Miami’s outgoing president and chancellor designate for UCLA.
Dr. Frenk has played a pivotal role in launching AHF’s Global Public Health Institute at University of Miami. He has created groundbreaking contributions to the HIV/AIDS response including avancing anti-stigma efforts, fostering global health collaborations, securing universal access to antiretroviral therapy in Mexico, and more.
AHF has worked with a diverse array of iconic performers including Janet Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Diana Ross, and more. Its list of lifetime achievement award honorees include Debbie Allen, Blair Underwood, and more. So it’s of no surprise that Ricky Martin would be next on their list of talented performers.
